How does the VTEC system work on a Honda K20A3?

How does the VTEC system work on a Honda K20A3?

The VTEC system on engines like the K20A3 only operate on the intake cam; at low rpm only one intake valve is fully opened, the other opening just slightly to create a swirl effect in the combustion chamber for improved fuel atomization. At high rpm, both intake valves open fully to improve engine breathing.

What’s the difference between the A3 and A20A2 VTEC?

The VTEC mechanism differ significantly between the K20A2 and A3 head. The K20A3 uses only two cam lobe profiles on the inlet. Under 2200 rpm, this engine is a effectively a 12 valve engine, and over 2200 rpm it is a 16 valve. There is no VTEC mechanism on the K20A3 exhaust valves. Basically, this head does not breath well compared to the K20A2.

Can a non VTEC engine be converted to a VTEC killer?

Adds 40+whp to your Non VTEC K20a3, K24a1, K24a4, K24a8 Engine. Convert your Non-VTEC K20 or K24 into a VTEC Killer set-up.

Where does the VTEC system work on an Acura RSX?

In engines such as the K20A2 found in the Acura RSX Type-S, the VTEC system operates on both the intake and exhaust valves, allowing both to benefit from multiple cam profiles.

What’s the difference between a K24A1 and K24A4?

4. K24A4 is an analogue to K24A1, but it has new pistons, the 9.7 compression ratio, a 1-stage RAA intake manifold and slightly modified head ports. It used i-VTEC to the intake camshaft that could change duration by +/- 25° and is tuned for the low-end and mid-range torque. The size of the stock fuel injectors is 270 cc.

Are there any problems with the Honda K24A?
