What is pot still and patent still method?

Pot stills form the basis of batch distillation. This means a specified amount of liquid goes into the still and gets distilled into spirit. Then the leftover dregs are dumped, the still gets cleaned out, and the whole process begins anew. This is where the liquid to be distilled starts its transformative journey.

What is the pot still method?

A pot still is a type of distillation apparatus or still used to distill flavoured liquors such as whisky or cognac, but not rectified spirit because they are bad at separating congeners. Pot stills operate on a batch distillation basis (as opposed to a Coffey or column stills which operate on a continuous basis).

Can you use a reflux still as a pot still?

The dual purpose or hybrid stills mean that they can run as a pot still or a reflux still which gives the distiller more options. When running as a pot still the distiller will not run water to the reflux condenser and put a minimal amount of copper mesh in the column so not packing the column all the way up.

Is an air still a pot still?

It produces distillate at about 55% abv. As this still is a pot still and the alcohol is not “purified” in a reflux column it is important to produce the wash from ingredients that will produce the highest quality wash: Triple Distilled Turbo, Turbo Carbon and Turbo Clear.
